On Sunday, November 24, 2019, from 2-to-5 PM, the Atlanta Audio Club welcomes Brian Walsh of Exogal for a demonstration of their premier digital products. Brian will be demonstrating their Comet Plus, Ion PowerDAC and the soon-to-be- released Vortex Streamer!
In addition, David Solomon of Qobuz will be here (Finally! We thought he would never be in town when we were having a meeting!) He will be covering Qobuz' streaming service for those of us who have not yet made their acquaintance! I know that many of us are already on this service, but David's presentation will be a great lead-in to our January meeting on Streaming Services and What We Need to Know. Look for more info on that meeting shortly.
More information to be provided... watch this space!
November 19th Update... Here's a description of the system we'll be listening to from Brian Walsh.
"I will be using my phone as a wifi hotspot in combination with a notebook computer and iPad.
The notebook computer will be connected via USB to the EXOGAL Comet Plus DAC.
The Comet Plus will connect to the EXOGAL Ion PowerDAC via an HDMI cable used to transmit proprietary digital signals in both directions.
The Ion PowerDAC will drive a pair of Ryan Speakers R630s.
Cabling will probably be a combination of Verastarr power cords and conditioning and Teo Audio speaker cables.
As I understand it you will provide a small audio rack for the components. (Chuck Bruce)
The notebook will play music locally stored as well as streaming.
And as discussed I believe David Solomon of Qobuz will be present as well.
My presentation will consist of an overview of our system to describe features and answer questions.
Atlanta area EXOGAL dealer Mike Powell of Verastarr will be present."
NOTE: David Solomon has been confirmed and will be present to answer any questions you may have about Qobuz and where this streaming service is headed in future. I anticipate we will be given a quick tour of Qobuz and a demonstration of how easy it is to find the music you are looking for on this service.
